Backup and Restore
Backup and restore protects your rule setup and makes migration to another Mac straightforward.
When To Create Backups
- before major rule refactors
- before reinstalling macOS
- before moving to a new Mac
- before testing many new automation rules
Backup Steps
- Open LinguaX settings.
- Export your current configuration.
- Save the file in a safe location.
- Use a dated filename, for example
linguax-backup-2026-02-13.
Restore Steps
- Install and open LinguaX on target Mac.
- Import the backup file.
- Confirm rules and mappings are present.
- Validate behavior in your top apps/domains.
Post-Restore Validation
- Test two app rules.
- Test one browser domain rule.
- Test one shortcut action if used.
- Confirm menu bar startup behavior.
Safety Notes
- keep at least one known-good backup
- avoid overwriting your only backup copy
- validate restore before deleting old backups
