The latest LinguaX beta brings two changes you can see immediately: a redesigned settings window and AIx, a workspace for translating, polishing, and summarizing text.

Mouse controls, keyboard shortcuts, input-source rules, and AIx now have their own places in the sidebar. Within each page, related controls sit together, so you can see what you are configuring and the settings that affect it.

Here is a look at the new interface and how AIx fits into everyday reading and writing. These features are part of the 6000-series beta, with the latest changes listed in the changelog.

LinguaX 2025.12 (build 5200) is now stable and fully supports macOS 27. It remains compatible with macOS 13.0 and later, so upgrading LinguaX does not require upgrading your Mac.

The macOS 27 beta cycle changed the behavior of several system interactions that LinguaX relies on. We used the beta releases to find those differences early, validate fixes in real workflows, and bring the complete compatibility work into this stable release.

LinguaX is now in the official Homebrew Cask tap. If you already use brew to install your Mac apps, adding LinguaX is one command — and every future release lands in brew upgrade automatically.

TL;DR:

brew install --cask linguax

If you're using a Mac with a Logitech mouse, you've probably experienced this: scrolling feels choppy and jittery, nothing like the silky smooth experience of a Magic Mouse or trackpad.

And to make things worse, Logi Options+ has been acting up lately—developer certificates expiring, causing all sorts of errors, sometimes making the software completely unusable. There's been quite a bit of complaining about this online.

If you're researching automatic input method switching on macOS, you'll quickly meet two names: LinguaX and Input Source Pro. They overlap on input switching, but they aren't the same kind of tool.

The key difference: Input Source Pro does one job — it switches input sources. LinguaX is a full macOS mouse enhancement app (smooth scrolling, side-button and gesture mapping, a Logi Options+ alternative) that also automates input-source switching. If you'd otherwise install one tool for your mouse and another for languages, LinguaX replaces both.

If your third-party mouse feels rough on macOS — jumpy scrolling, dead side buttons, no real driver — LinguaX fixes it. LinguaX is a lightweight, native macOS mouse enhancement app that gives any USB or Bluetooth mouse trackpad-grade scrolling, real button and gesture mappings, and per-app behavior, all without installing a kernel driver.

It is about 10MB, fully native (no Electron), and works as a lightweight Logi Options+ alternative. Core mouse and input-source processing runs locally, with optional iCloud configuration sync and no account or behavioral telemetry. Downloads, updates, and license validation use network services; AIx sends submitted text only when you invoke an AI action and consent to the transfer. Alongside the mouse tools, LinguaX has a second core capability: it automates macOS input-source switching for multilingual users.
